Spring in Brisbane is a brief affair. We were forecast a couple of cloudy, damp days, but instead this is what we got.
It's vacation time, so I piled the kids in the car and we headed down to the beach for a couple of hours expending youthful energy, or in my case, going into energy debt. There is a small island at this spot, only accessible at low tide. We have always said we wanted to walk there, and today we did.
The kids squealed when a hermit crab decided to explore my toes.
On the way home we stopped at a garden centre, admired the flowers, especially this prettily crumpled poppy, and stocked up on a few plants to add to the little frog haven I am creating.
Tired but happy, we all went home.

That sounds like a fabulous day!
What a great day!!! LOVE the color of that poppy.
fabulous photos of a delightful outing.
What a lovely day out! And don't you just love poppies with their crumpled petals, that straighten right out!
what a lovely day -the photo of them intent on life at their feet is indeed lovely. I'm trying to think what small island can be reached at lowtide and am at a complete loss - you must email me and tell me! We'd love to walk out there too. And I agree on the cranes - definitely Brisbane's giraffes!
